Sylvie Shurgot Real Estate

Our logo was designed by our friend Mark Ross in January of 2011. Since the name of the company was Sylvie Shurgot Real Estate, we wanted to incorporate the SS in the logo. Mark and I were going through some design ideas one evening, talking about my work history as a mathematics teacher at Saint Mary's Hall, when I mentioned that the integral sign (a symbol commonly used in calculus) looks like a stretched out S and, of course, the symbol for the double integral would look like a couple of stretched out SS. Mark loved the idea and immediately went to work. His wife came up with the colors and the two vertical lines around the words "real estate." When Mark sent me the proof, I smiled and pointed out that those two lines are the mathematical symbol for Absolute Value.
